Amber Bryan (11th, St. Mary’s) went with classmates on a college tour last year over fall break. Among the colleges toured were Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, George Washington University, University of Virginia, Penn State, University of Richmond, and the University of Maryland. She is pictured above (on right) in front of the new Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial in Washington, D.C. This summer, after returning from a dance camp on Auburn University’s campus, Amber Bryan (11th, St. Mary’s) took the ACT prep course at New Hope and then spent time on three more college campuses. She received full scholarships to a two-week business program (Business Education for Talented Students) at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in June, a computer science program at Howard University in June, and a Youth Policy Summit program for urban sustainability at Manhattan College in New York in July.
